THE TOURNAMENT

The first Boston Women’s Invitational Tennis Tournament was held in Charlestown in 2004. Now in its 5th year, it serves two vital goals.

First, it gives serious young female tennis players an annual opportunity to play at a highly competitive level. (It also gives serious tennis fans in the Greater Boston area a chance to come and watch!)

The 2008 total prize money is $2000.  The Champion will go home with $1,000, the Runner up will receive $500 and each semi-finalist will get $250. Prize monies for winning amateurs will be donated to our youth tennis programs.

Second, the Tournament is a fund-raiser. Proceeds support two local tennis programs: The Charlestown Against Drugs Tennis Club and Charlestown Community Center’s Youth Tennis.

You only have to stop by the Stillman Tennis Center once and see the faces of the young players to understand just how important these programs (and therefore the money that supports them!) are to Boston’s youngsters.
